There are numerous skin conditions that need a clinical diagnosis and treatment plan. Here are a few skin disorders treated at Green Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, and how we can help treat them so that you not only look your best, you feel your best, too.
Acne
We’ve all had acne at one point in our lives, whether as teenagers or even adults. Acne mainly affects the younger crowd, but adults also suffer from this condition from time to time. Acne can be classified as blackheads, pimples or even cysts that can happen almost anywhere on our body. Whether it’s a severe case or not, acne can lead to scarring – physically, and in some cases, emotionally. At our office, we have a few acne treatments including blue light therapy, chemical peels, and a personalized skin care line to help you treat both the acne and the scars it has left behind.
Psoriasis
This autoimmune disease happens when the body incorrectly sends out signals to speed up the growth cycle of skin cells. It’s not contagious, but it can cause patients to become self-conscious around others. There are five types – the most common causes red patches with white dead skin buildup to happen on any part of the body. Since Psoriasis is the most common autoimmune disease in the States, there are a variety of treatments available including topical ointments and artificial ultraviolet light using lasers in different ways.
Eczema
This skin condition is one of the most common with about 10-20% of the world’s population affected by it. It consists of a red and inflamed skin rash that can be chronic, relapsing and itchy. Our office has the only FDA-approved eczema treatment, a laser called XTRAC that can clear the skin of this condition.
Melasma
This skin condition where brown patches occur on the face is not harmful but the cause is also unknown. It mainly occurs in women, usually around the nose, cheeks, and forehead and can cause the patient to become self-conscious. People with a family history tend to be the most at-risk so broad-spectrum sunscreen is the best way to prevent it. Melasma may also occur during pregnancy so we suggest waiting until after the birth to see if it fades away on its own. If it doesn’t, we have topical bleaching creams that can help.
Contact Dermatitis
This occurs when your skin reacts to a substance, or allergen, that it’s allergic to. First, a patch test will be done to diagnose the cause. Substances like nickel, rubber, dyes, or plants like poison oak and poison ivy are common allergens. Once the allergen is determined, it’s just a matter of avoiding that substance for the skin to clear up.
Green Dermatology & Cosmetic Center can treat these skin disorders but we also specialize in a variety of others. We are your dermatologist in Boca that you can count on! Contact us today and stop living with that skin condition that may be holding you back from living a full and happy life.
