Your BEST Post-Summer Skincare Regimen!

Although it’s time to bid farewell to summer, we won’t forget the memories: the pool parties, the long beach days, the boat outings, and all of that South Florida sunshine wreaking havoc on our skin. Dr. Green, a dermatologist in Deerfield Beach, and his team at Green Dermatology & Cosmetic Center want to share some of their best skin care procedures, products and tips to help rejuvenate your skin after a long, hot summer in the sun.

While we hope that you were still taking care to use sunscreen and other skin care products to protect yourself from the sun over the summer, we know there’s still potential for damage. The need for a post-summer skin check is crucial. You can do this on your own right at home, so there is no excuse not to take the time out to do so. The Skin Care Foundation recommends doing a head-to-toe self-examination every month to look for new or changing lesions or anything that appears out of the ordinary. To perform a proper self-skin check, the Skin Care Foundation suggests the following: you need to be in a brightly lit area with a full-length mirror, two chairs or stools, a blow-dryer, body maps, and a pencil. You can find the body map to use by clicking here and full step-by-step detailed instructions here.

If you aren’t entirely comfortable doing this on your own, head over to see your dermatologist. This kind of specialized doctor, such as Deerfield Beach dermatologist Dr. Green, has gone through specific training that includes the diagnosis and management of skin cancers and thus will be the best person to perform such a detailed examination. While it is helpful to be able to perform monthly checks on your own, it is ideal to see a dermatologist — especially after spending so much time in the sun during the summer — for a thorough review every once in a while.

Now is the time to add back all of the moisture your skin may have lost over the summer. All of that time in the sun has likely caused your skin to lose much-needed moisture, and you’re going to want the best skin care treatments to rehydrate. At Green Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, we offer some of the best in Boca Raton cosmetic skincare, such as the HydraFacial™, one of the most coveted facial treatments around that improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, congested and enlarged pores, oily or acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation, and brown spots. It nourishes and hydrates, and is suitable for just about any skin type. The HydraFacial is just what you need after spending months soaking up the sun, but it isn’t a one-time solution. To maintain that bright, healthy glow, Dr. Green recommends one treatment per month.

In addition to getting the HydraFacial, you also should be using moisturizing products to help keep the skin fresh, clean and nourished. Green Dermatology & Cosmetic Center has its own line of skincare products available both online and in our office. When it comes to hydration, one of our top products is the Restore Serums, rich in Retinol (Vitamin A). There are three different strengths, each of which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and surface wrinkles, and also revitalizes, firms, smoothes and enhances skin tone and texture while helping to minimize the visible signs of aging. The serums have also been enhanced with green tea polyphenols, caffeine USP and moisturizers in order to reduce redness, increase their antioxidant properties and hydrate the skin.

It’s also important to have a daily moisturizer, one that you can apply morning and night to keep the skin from drying out. Dr. Green recommends the Ultralite Moisturizer for the face, as well as Soft Hands for those who suffer from dry skin on the hands and fingers.
